SoftLayer Technologies, a web hosting company, made a statement on Wednesday claiming to be the first company to offer Intel Xeon E 7-4800 servers. Just a week earlier the company had introduced its referral partner program. The program offers a much enhanced level of scalability, memory and I/O capacity,
“We say this all the time, but our customers push technology to the limit. It’s a priority for us to bring them the latest, best performing products the second they are available,” Sam Fleitman, SoftLayer chief operating officer said in a statement. “The E7-4800 series brings the performance and features our customers need to solve real-world business challenges, helping them adapt to quickly changing operational demands as well as address long-term growth requirements.”
“It’s exciting to see SoftLayer harness the performance capabilities of the new Intel Xeon processor to offer leading-edge technology for on-demand data center services and technology innovation,” Jason Waxman, general manager of High Density Computing at Intel said in a statement. “In addition to record-breaking compute power, Intel Xeon processor E7-8800/4800/2800 product families deliver enhanced security and reliability features to meet the needs of the most demanding mission-critical computing environments and high-end computing applications.”
Using a 32nm process technology the series has improved significantly to perform better. SoftLayer according to its official website now offers the E7-4800 in Quad Processor 8-core and Quad Processor 10-core server configurations to its customers.
